Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis Utrecht
The charity of AFAS Kasteelloop de Haar, Kasteelwandeling de Haar and the Kastelentour is Vrienden UMC Utrecht & Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis Utrecht. On an annual basis, UMC Utrecht & Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis (WKZ) helps almost 200 families through the AYA Chat Package. Because, how do you tell your child that you have cancer?
This is a challenge many young adult (18-39 years) patients struggle with. It is one of the most difficult conversations to have after being diagnosed with cancer. To give these patients a helping hand, we have launched the ''AYA Kletspakket''. AYA stands for Adolescents & Young Adults with cancer. In the AYA clinic at UMC Utrecht, specific care is offered for young adults with cancer. Healthcare providers offer patients support on a variety of life issues.
They noticed that patients find it very difficult to open the conversation with their children about cancer and its consequences. The ''AYA Kletspakket'' offers parents a handle and includes information, booklets, a game and cuddly toys for children. And you can help these families by making a donation in the registration form or personal dashboard. With your donation, Vrienden UMC Utrecht & Wilhelmina Kinderziekenhuis can help almost 200 families a year!
